Queens or gynes measured approximately 6-7 mm in body length, with distinctive wing venation patterns including the rare loss of the rm cell among Ponerinae ants . The name 'aberrans' means 'deviate' or 'aberrant' in Latin, referring to its unique morphological features such as the high petiole node and angulated propodeum .
