物种引言
Myrmica nungesseri is an extinct ant species known only from fossil specimens found in the Upper Oligocene Enspel Formation in Germany, dating to approximately 24.56-24.79 million years ago . This species was described in 2020 from a single fossilized gyne (reproductive female) discovered in oilshale deposits in the Westerwald Mountains of Rhineland-Palatinate . The queen measures approximately 6.92 mm in total length including wings, with a body length of about 4.83 mm . The species is distinguished by its oval head with flattened occipital corners, sub-triangular mandibles with approximately five teeth, and a medium brown coloration with dark brown clypeus, mandibles, antennae, and tarsi . This is a fossil species that existed during the Oligocene epoch and has been extinct for approximately 24 million years. It cannot be kept in captivity under any circumstances.
