物种引言

Dolichoderus pinguis is an extinct ant species known only from fossil remains found in Late Eocene amber from Sikhote-Alin in the Russian Far East . The species name 'pinguis' means 'fat' in Latin, referring to the robust build of this ant . Males measured approximately 6.3mm in total body length, with distinctive morphological features including a wide head, large oval eyes, and a nodiform petiole with a short peduncle . This species lived approximately 40 million years ago during the Eocene period.
