Giriş

Formica longicollis is an extinct ant species known only from fossil specimens found in Miocene deposits in Switzerland . This species was described from male specimens discovered in the Oeningen formation. The known specimens measure approximately 16mm in total length, with an elongated thorax and an oval abdomen longer than wide. The wings extend beyond the abdomen apex . As a fossil species from the Miocene period, no living colonies exist, and this species cannot be kept in captivity.
