Giriş

Camponotites vehemens is an extinct ant species known only from fossil specimens preserved in Middle Oligocene amber from Brunstatt, Alsace (approximately 30 million years old) . This species belongs to the genus Camponotites, an extinct group within the Formicinae subfamily, related to modern carpenter ants (Camponotus). Only fossilized specimens have been discovered - no living colonies exist or have ever been documented in modern times. The species was originally described under the name Camponotus vehemens before being reclassified into the extinct genus Camponotites .
