Введение

Liometopum incognitum is an extinct ant species known only from fossil remains found in Late Eocene deposits in the Sikhote-Alin region of the Russian Far East . The queen measured approximately 14.5mm in body length, making it a moderately large ant species . The genus Liometopum is known for its distinctive velvety appearance and robust build, though this specific fossil species differs from other known Liometopum fossils and living species in head morphology and wing venation patterns . This species represents an ancient member of the ant fauna that inhabited the Eocene forests of what is now eastern Asia.
