Введение

Dolichoderus tavridus is an extinct ant species known only from a single fossil forewing preserved in Miocene amber from the Kerch Peninsula in Crimea. The fossil dates to approximately 16.5-15.5 million years ago during the Middle Miocene epoch. No body fossils have been discovered, so the actual size and appearance of workers or queens is unknown. The genus Dolichoderus continues to exist today with numerous living species, but D. tavridus itself cannot be kept in captivity as it has been extinct for millions of years.
