Introdução

Tapinoma aberrans is a small ant species endemic to Madagascar. Originally described as Technomyrmex aberrans in 1911,it belongs to the subfamily Dolichoderinae. These ants lack a functional stinger and instead rely on chemical defenses. The species was first collected from Fort Dauphin in southeastern Madagascar . Only the queen has been formally described; worker morphology is undocumented. This species also has a notable fossil record in European Eocene amber (Baltic, Rovno, Bitterfeld), indicating a formerly wider distribution .
