Introdução

Myrmica dictyosa is an extinct ant species known from a single worker specimen preserved in Baltic amber from Poland, dating to the late Eocene period approximately 37.8-33.9 million years ago . The worker measures approximately 5.8 mm in total body length and is characterized by its very coarse reticulated sculpture on the head dorsum and mesosoma. The species name derives from the Greek word 'dictyo' meaning 'net', referring to this distinctive net-like body sculpturing . This is a fossil species, it went extinct millions of years ago and cannot be kept in captivity.
