Introductie

Strumigenys poinari is an extinct ant species known only from a single fossil preserved in Dominican amber from the early Miocene, roughly 15-20 million years ago . Because the species no longer exists, it cannot be kept in captivity. The fossil helped scientists calibrate the evolutionary timeline of trap-jaw ants .
