Introductie

Dolichoderus pilipes is an extinct ant species known only from fossilized specimens preserved in Late Eocene amber. Workers measured approximately 6 mm in body length, while females (queens) reached about 7 mm. The species was described from specimens found in Rovno amber (Ukraine) and Scandinavian amber. The genus Dolichoderus continues today with numerous living species across tropical and temperate regions, but D. pilipes itself no longer exists.
