Introductie

Dolichoderus lucidus is an extinct ant species known only from fossil specimens preserved in Late Eocene amber, specifically Rovno amber from Ukraine . Workers measured approximately 3mm in total body length, with a smooth, shiny body and distinctive features including forward-displaced eyes and a triangular petiole . This species lived approximately 33-38 million years ago during the Late Eocene period and is related to modern Dolichoderus ants found in tropical and temperate regions worldwide . The species was formally described in 2008 by G.M. Dlussky based on well-preserved worker specimens .
