Introduzione

Liometopum brunascens is a fossil ant species originally described from a single specimen found in Early Miocene deposits in Radoboj, Croatia. The original description was based on a figure and limited description, and subsequent analysis suggests the specimen may actually represent a male Liometopum rather than a definitively identified species . No living specimens of this species exist, as it is known only from fossil records. The genus Liometopum contains several living species found across North America, Europe, and Asia. These ants are typically medium-sized with distinctive velvety appearances.
