Pendahuluan

Poneracantha brunoi is an extinct ant species known from a single queen preserved in Dominican amber, dating to the Oligocene-Miocene period . The queen has an elongated head, semi-spherical compound eyes, and a distinctive triangular propodeal tooth . Size data is unavailable from the fossil . The species is known only from Dominican Republic amber deposits . Workers and males are unknown . This species cannot be kept in captivity. The species name honors Italian philosopher Giordano Bruno, who asserted that humans are not superior to ants .
