Pendahuluan
Gesomyrmex bremii is an extinct fossil ant that lived during the Early Miocene, about 20 million years ago. It was originally described as Myrmica bremii by Heer in 1849 from specimens found in Radoboj, Croatia . This species belongs to the subfamily Formicinae and tribe Gesomyrmecini, a group of megathermal ants that thrived in warm climates. Today, G. bremii is considered a species inquirenda (a questionable taxonomic name) because the original fossil is too incomplete to properly confirm it as a distinct species . The known specimen measured about 9 mm in body length, with a head noticeably longer than wide, and triangular mandibles bearing seven teeth .
