Pendahuluan
Eoformica expectans is an extinct ant species known only from fossil compression specimens preserved in Oligocene deposits from France and Germany. It was originally described in 1937 as Gesomyrmex expectans by Théobald, but researchers reclassified it to the genus Eoformica in 2009 after determining it did not belong in Gesomyrmex based on morphological analysis of the fossil specimens . The fossils show a small rounded head with relatively small eyes and comparatively long scapes (the first segment of the antenna) . This species lived approximately 30–34 million years ago during the early Oligocene period. Because no living specimens exist, Eoformica expectans cannot be kept or maintained in any way, it exists only as preserved specimens in geological collections and museums.
