Bevezetés

Plagiolepis succini is an extinct ant species known only from a single worker specimen preserved in Baltic amber, dating to the Eocene epoch approximately 44-49 million years ago . The species was large for its genus, resembling the modern Anoplolepis custodiens but with greater size and thicker, less elongated antennae . The type specimen was described by André in 1895 but has since been lost, and its current location is unknown . There is significant uncertainty about its origin, with suggestions that it may have been from African copal rather than Baltic amber .
