Bevezetés

Camponotites longus is an extinct ant species known only from fossil specimens preserved in Miocene-era amber from the Shanwang formation in Shandong, China. The species was originally described as Camponotus longus by Zhang in 1989 and was later reclassified into the genus Camponotites by Boudinot et al. in 2024. Only fossil queen specimens have been documented. This species lived approximately 15-20 million years ago during the Miocene period and has no living representatives. As a fossil species, it cannot be kept in captivity.
