Introduction

Technomyrmex kemaensis is an extinct ant species known only from forewing imprints from the Lower Oligocene (about 28 million years ago) of the Russian Far East . It was described from the Velikaya Kema locality in Primorsky Krai, Russia . The wing structure places it in the genus Technomyrmex, with a relatively large, rounded pterostigma and a closed 3r cell . This is the first fossil record of the genus from the Early Oligocene , and the only other known fossil in the genus is Technomyrmex septentrionalis from China, which is much larger . No complete body fossils are known, so details of its appearance, size, and behavior are unavailable.
