Introducción

Eoformica magna is an extinct ant species from the Eocene epoch, approximately 50 million years old. It was discovered in the Green River Formation in North America, one of the world's most famous fossil beds. Only the male caste has been described for this species, making it known from a single fossil specimen. The male measured approximately 7mm in total body length, making it a relatively large ant for its time. The species belongs to the genus Eoformica, which represents an ancient lineage of ants that no longer exists today.
