Introducción
Dolichoderus dlusskyi is an extinct fossil ant species from the Middle Eocene Kishenehn Formation in Montana, USA, dating to approximately 47 million years ago. Only a single worker specimen has ever been documented, making this one of the rarest fossil ants in existence . The worker measured 4.21mm in total length, with a rectangular head that was distinctly longer than wide, small eyes placed at the midline, and a dark brown gaster contrasting with reddish-brown head and mesosoma . The propodeum displayed distinctive double spines, and the petiole had a distinct node shape . This species cannot be kept - it went extinct approximately 47 million years ago during the Eocene period. The genus Dolichoderus still exists today with living species, but this specific fossil species is only known from compression fossils in Montana. If you're interested in keeping Dolichoderus ants, consider looking at living species like Dolichoderus thoracicus or Dolichoderus bituberculatus, which are available from reputable ant suppliers.
