Introducción

Camponotites theobaldi is an extinct fossil ant species originally described from France. It was originally named Camponotus saussurei by Théobald in 1937, but this name was already in use for a different ant species described by Forel in 1879. The name was officially changed to Camponotites theobaldi in 2010 to resolve this conflict . This species is known only from fossil specimens preserved in Tertiary deposits in France and represents an ancient member of the Camponotus genus.
