Protazteca elongata is an extinct ant species known only from fossils in the Florissant Formation, Colorado, USA. It lived during the late Oligocene epoch, approximately 34 million years ago . Workers were small, but exact size measurements are not available from fossil literature . This species belonged to the subfamily Dolichoderinae, which includes modern ants like the Argentine ant. Protazteca elongata was one of the most common ants in its ecosystem, comprising about 27% of all ant fossils found in the Florissant formation . No living specimens exist, and this species cannot be kept in captivity.
