Introduction

Prenolepis henschei is an extinct ant species known from Baltic amber deposits dating to the Middle to Late Eocene, approximately 37-42 million years ago. Workers measured 2.0-2.75 mm in total length and were brown, with a head longer than wide and compact mesosoma . This species is one of the most common ants in Baltic amber, comprising 4.8-6.7% of all ant specimens in collections . Fossil evidence shows they foraged solitarily on tree trunks and had trophobiotic interactions with aphids (Germaraphis) .
