The species was discovered in the Yantarny deposit on the Sambia Peninsula in the Kaliningrad region of Russia . This is the fourth spineless Myrmica species known to science and represents a unique glimpse into ant diversity during the Eocene period . This is a fossil species that went extinct approximately 34 million years ago. It cannot be kept in captivity. No living specimens exist, and there is no care information available.
