Introduction
Lasius globularis is an extinct ant species known only from Miocene fossils found in Radoboj, Croatia, dating to approximately 23-5 million years ago . The species was originally described as Formica globularis by Heer in 1849 and later transferred to the genus Lasius by Mayr in 1867 . Queens measured 4.4-7.0mm in body length, with a characteristic rounded head and globular (round) abdomen . This species has no living representatives and cannot be kept in captivity.
