Introduction
Anochetus ambiguus is an extinct fossil species known only from a single worker preserved in Dominican Amber dating to the Miocene epoch, approximately 17 million years ago . The species was formally described by De Andrade in 1994 from this fossil specimen (holotype DO-3346) . No living colonies exist today, and no care guidelines can be provided for this species. It belongs to the emarginatus species group within the trap-jaw ant genus Anochetus and has been used in phylogenetic studies to calibrate the age of clade H .
