Einleitung
Proceratium poinari is an extinct ant species that lived approximately 15-20 million years ago during the Miocene epoch. It has been found preserved in Dominican amber from the Dominican Republic, with additional specimens known from Mexican amber . Workers measure about 2.5 mm in total length and have a ferrugineous-brown coloration. This species belongs to the Proceratiinae subfamily and is part of the Micrommatum Clade, sharing morphological features with Proceratium micrommatum and Proceratium panamense, including a slightly angulate postpetiole and a basal propodeal face that is denticulate and carinate . The species was named in honor of Dr. George O. Poinar, Jr., who provided the amber specimens for study .
