Einleitung

Pachycondyla labandeirai is an extinct ant species known from a single fossil specimen in the Green River Formation, Wyoming, USA . This Eocene-era ant lived approximately 50 million years ago and was described in 2002 based on a fossilized queen . The queen was exceptionally large for its time, with an abdomen length of 7.5mm, making it a giant among Paleogene Ponerinae ants . This species cannot be kept in captivity as it has been extinct for millions of years.
