Einleitung

Formica eoptera is an extinct ant species known only from a single fossilized forewing discovered in Eocene deposits in Texas, USA . The species was described in 1923 by T.D.A. Cockerell, making it one of the oldest known Formica species in the fossil record . This species has been extinct for approximately 33-56 million years and exists only as a museum specimen.
