Discothyrea maya is an extinct ant species known only from fossilized amber deposits in Chiapas, Mexico, dating to the Oligocene-Miocene period. This species was formally described by De Andrade in 1998 based on male specimens preserved in amber. As a fossil species, no living specimens exist, and no information is available about its behavior, colony structure, or care requirements in captivity.
